Hi,
I would like to create a web link with an SVG file.
Once image is uploaded to Bynder it remains as an SVG file however, the link produced is converted to a jpg.
The issue this is causing is that the image is loosing it’s transparent background.
If is possible to create weblinks as an svg? Or do I need to change the format of the image?
Thank you!

Hello @VictoriaS great question!

There are a couple of ways to retrieve a web link to show the SVG file, this also depends on what is configured in your environment. For example, you have the option to mark an asset as public, which will make the original version of the asset (if that is SVG) available to link to externally. More about that in our Knowledge Base article: Mark Assets as Public and Retrieve Public URLs

Alternatively, you can set up a public derivative. Which is an extra version (and most of time, smaller version) of the asset that you make publicly available, and therefore you can retrieve a link to it, that you can use as web link as well.

If none of the above applies, only the public thumbnails of an asset will be available, and those are most of the time the most basic web versions, such as JPG which will not preserve a transparent background (simply because the file format does not support this).

Feel free to reach out to Technical Support by sending a message to support@bynder.com with the link to the file you are working with, and myself or one of my colleagues will be more than happy to have a look with/for you 🙌
