Hi, we are using the Bynder API to pull PDFs to our website. It’s been working fine but we set up a new user ‘Level 4’ and for some reason even though the PDF ‘Usage Rights’ is set to Public the ‘original’ link is not showing in the API. When I check this Asset in Postman it’s showing ‘isPublic=0’ when it should be 1.
Earlier I checked Level 4 user permissions and ‘mark assets as public’ was not selected. Which is weird because the person had marked them as public already. Anyways, I checked this box but it didn’t make a difference. Bottom line is I have the Asset set to Public but in the API it still says isPublic=0.
Can someone let me know if I’m missing something here?
‘Download original assets’ is also checked for Level 4 user. Just FYI
one other note - in the API the asset says ‘property_Usage_Rights’: ‘Public’ -- but ‘isPublic’ says 0
As a sanity check.
- When selecting ‘mark assets as public’ on the new Level4 be sure to save the changes.
- Did you try and mirror an existing permission levels permissions to eliminate that it’s not a permissions management issue?
- The assets failing to pull through, were they loaded into the portal by a user on this new level 4 or are they pre-existing assets that will not pull through?
- If they are loaded by a new Level4 user, are your users tied to SSO protocol?
Lastly.
You may want to ask your SM to set the ‘mark assets as public’ permission in the new level 4, just to see if the setting does not revert back.
I’m sure most of this you would have tried, just thought list these in case it may help :)
thank you Andrew for the check list! I’ve basically done those things.
I see 2 references to public in the API response. See screenshot.
The property_Usage_Rights does say ‘Public’.
But the isPublic parameter says 0. How can one say Public and the other say not public?
Is there a different setting for isPublic?
I got the answer for this from Bynder Support!
Be sure and check the ‘Advanced Rights’ section when editing Asset and check the box ‘Mark as public’. This made the ‘original’ PDF available in the API response.
